2026 Jiuhuashan UNESCO Global Geopark Publicity, Promotion, Education and Training Activity Successfully Held!

To mark the 57th World Earth Day, actively prepare for the 2026 UNESCO Global Geopark Revalidation, and comprehensively enhance the park’s science popularization and publicity capacity, the Jiuhuashan UNESCO Global Geopark successfully held a publicity, promotion, education and training activity on April 15. This training was mainly targeted at guides and related personnel across the mountain.

This training was also an important part of the “57th World Earth Day ‘Friendly Sister Parks Linkage’ & the 7th Asia Pacific Geoparks Week” and was organized by the Environmental Resources Protection Office (Geopark Management Office) of the Jiuhuashan Scenic Area Management Committee and the Jiuhuashan UNESCO Global Geopark Management Center.

The training closely followed the construction and development requirements for UNESCO Global Geoparks, systematically covering topics such as the park’s development history, industry trends, interpretation of the park’s natural elements, and the integration of geology and culture. By combining thematic lectures with field teaching, the training strengthened participants’ comprehensive understanding of geoheritage value, conservation principles, and methods of science communication. At the same time, learning geological English vocabulary further enhanced international communication and foreign visitor service levels.

During the practical session, participants conducted field teaching at the Jiuhuashan Geology Museum, the Shutanyinyue typical geoheritage site, and Laotian Ancient Village. Through in-depth discussions on “how to observe, how to explain, and how to transform,” they further improved the professionalism and appeal of their interpretation, facilitating the conversion of theoretical knowledge into practical guiding skills.

This training focused on addressing shortcomings and directly targeted key requirements for the Revalidation. It effectively enhanced the professional competence and science popularization service capacity of park staff and guides, providing strong support for comprehensively preparing for the UNESCO Global Geopark Revalidation and telling the geological story of Jiuhuashan well.
