The Jiuhua Shenlong Valley Scenic Area is located in Qingquan Village, Lingyang Town, Qingyang County, Chizhou City, Anhui Province. It lies at the southern foot of Mount Jiuhua (i.e., the rear mountain of Mount Jiuhua) and falls within the scope of Mount Jiuhua National Forest Park. The valley has an elevation of 548 meters and stretches 3 kilometers in length. It originates from streams and rivers flowing from Púsàtóu Mountain and Loutai Mountain on the southern side of Mount Jiuhua, forming dozens of gorges, deep pools, unique rocks, and waterfalls, known as the "Nine Falls and Eighteen Bends". The scenic area features dense primitive vegetation, thick shade obscuring the sun, murmuring streams, flowing springs and waterfalls, and is often shrouded in mist and clouds. Deep, narrow, and with a height difference of several hundred meters, the concentration of negative oxygen ions reaches over 130,000 per cubic centimeter, making it the most primitive, most natural, and most secluded grand canyon within the entire Mount Jiuhua area.
The scenic area is dotted with numerous attractions, mainly including Shenlong Waterfall, Kumei Pool, Yuxian Pool, Changsheng Bridge, Rabbit Gazing at the Moon, Hidden Immortal Cave, Nine Dragons Protecting the Treasure, Sky-facing Mirror, Stone Gate Locking the Stream, and Ancient First Heaven Gate, among dozens of others. Among these, Shenlong Waterfall is nearly 100 meters high and spectacular; Kumu Pool Waterfall has a drop of 25 meters, with white water cascading down the cliff as if falling from heaven, and the pool water is deep and serene. The scenic area also contains over 20 old temple sites and is rich in wild animal and plant resources.
Since ancient times, Shenlong Valley has been a necessary passage for Huizhou merchants and Jiangxi pilgrims to worship Mount Jiuhua. Over thousands of years, influenced by the compassionate atmosphere of Buddhism, it has developed a unique pilgrimage path culture. The ancient mountain pilgrimage route within the scenic area was once the only way for pilgrims from southern Anhui to enter Mount Jiuhua for worship from the south, endowing it with profound historical and cultural heritage. Today, the scenic area has become an ideal destination for experiencing eco-tourism and Buddhist culture, following the spiritual lineage of "Destiny – Water – Zen – Heart", guiding visitors from the hustle and bustle of the secular world into the sublime state of the Buddha.
On April 9, 2017, the Jiuhua Shenlong Valley Scenic Area officially began operations. In January 2019, it was rated as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction by the Anhui Provincial Tourist Attraction Quality Rating Committee.
