When the April breeze sweeps across the mountain ridge at an altitude of over 1,200 meters, the alpine rhododendrons quietly awaken in the mist and clouds, dyeing the entire ridge into a flowing tapestry of colors. At this moment, the Huatai Scenic Area of Jiuhuashan Global Geopark welcomes its most beautiful season of the year – the peak blooming period of rhododendrons.
The blooming of rhododendrons in Huatai follows the rhythm of nature. At lower altitudes (380 m), the azaleas have already entered their peak blooming stage, their brilliant purple-red flowers contrasting magnificently with the mountain scenery. At higher altitudes (1,100 m), the alpine rhododendrons are about to reach their climax, with pink butterfly rhododendrons burning like flames, appearing even more elegantly cool in the morning dew.
This is one of the areas in East China with the most concentrated rhododendron resources and the most primitive population status. From the mountainside to the summit, a variety of rhododendrons bloom in succession, with a flowering period lasting nearly two months, creating the marvel of "four seasons on one mountain, different flowers every ten li (a Chinese unit of distance)."

In the Rhododendron Hollow, thousands of rhododendron branches create a sea of flowers that shines like sunrise in the morning and outshines the sunset in the evening. Together with strange peaks, grotesque rocks, seas of clouds, and rime ice, they form the exquisite painting of "The Spirit of Jiuhua Mountain, the Beauty in Huatai."
Strolling along the high-altitude skywalk, with leisurely white clouds over the deep valley below and alpine rhododendrons swaying gently in the breeze beside you – red, white, and purple flowers all vie for beauty, embedded on the cliffs and wild mountains, embodying the tenacity and romance of life.
