4.22 Earth Day, Jiuhuashan Global Geopark Publicity Week kicked off

On April 22, at the Jiuhuashan Scenic Area and the Global Geopark Visitor Center, the World Earth Day Promotion Week organized by the Jiuhuashan Geopark Management Committee was officially launched.

This year is the 51st World Earth Day. According to the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Natural Resources on Organizing and Launching the 51st World Earth Day Theme Publicity Week", the Natural Resources Office and the National Geopark Network Center have unified deployment. From April From 20th to April 30th, Jiuhuashan Global Geopark and 12 global geoparks including Huangshan Mountain in Anhui, Yandang Mountain in Zhejiang, Lushan in Jiangxi, Taishan in Shandong, and Zhangjiajie in Hunan jointly carried out online and offline publicity activities on the theme of Earth Day.

On the showcases in the visitor center, the promotional materials, event posters, pictures and promotional leaflets provided by the participating units were well received by tourists. A photo exhibition of sister global geoparks was also held in the tourist center square, and free tickets for 12 global geoparks were rewarded. The quiz activity attracted a large number of tourists and community residents to participate. Each participating unit provided no less than 30 quizzes with prizes to the other 11 parks, and provided 30-50 tickets (or exchange coupons, 2020) to the 11 parks respectively. Valid within the year) as a prize, tourists and community residents can scan the QR code on their mobile phones to answer the questions, and if they answer a certain number of questions correctly, they can get a ticket for the participating unit (Global Geopark).

On April 17, 2019, the 206th meeting of the UNESCO Executive Board passed a resolution officially approving the Jiuhuashan Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark.

Jiuhuashan Global Geopark, located along the Yangtze River, in Chizhou City, Anhui Province, China, covers an area of 139.7 square kilometers (the text shows the geographical coordinates and altitude). It is world-renowned for its clear, spectacular and beautiful granite complex rock mass, large-scale granite fault block landform and unique fluid-rich granite crystalline structure, combined with northern subtropical vegetation and Buddhist cultural landscape.
