On October 11, 2024, Jiuhuashan Scenic Area successfully concluded the national flagship event for the Double Ninth Festival Fitness Campaign, simultaneously hosting the 2nd Yangtze Delta Jiuhuashan Orienteering Competition. This dual initiative attracted unprecedented participation, with the 4km senior mountaineering rally drawing 1,400 elderly enthusiasts and the orienteering competition engaging 600 athletes nationwide—both courses spanning four kilometers across Jiuhuashan’s iconic landscapes.

Building upon prior experience hosting the 2023 Yangtze Delta Green Mountains Orienteering Challenge and 2024 Greater Huangshan International Eco-Rally, the scenic area implemented a refined operational framework. Comprehensive safeguards included four coordination meetings and eight specialized task forces deploying over 200 personnel—medical teams, police officers, volunteers, administrative law enforcers, security staff, and Blue Sky Rescue units—supported by 20+ emergency, traffic control, and shuttle vehicles ensuring seamless execution.

The event exemplified deep sports-tourism integration through multifaceted engagement: 18 national and provincial media outlets including People’s Daily and Xinhua News Agency provided coverage; 10 photographers’ association volunteers documented the festivities; complimentary access to Jiuhuashan Scenic Area and Grand Wish Hall was extended to participants. Cultural performances featured health qigong, softball gymnastics, and walking stick exercises, while interactive zones offered scientific fitness guidance, national physique assessments, sports lottery activities, and traditional games like pitch-pot and mini-golf—collectively celebrating wellness culture within Jiuhuashan’s natural splendor.
