[Photo Collection] “My Earth Story”

01 Background

To celebrate the 56thEarth Day, promote public awareness of Earth sciences, enhance understanding of   Global Geoparks, increase the visibility of China’s geoparks, and showcase achievements in their conservation and development, a total of 40 geoparks—including Danxia Mountain (Guangdong), Yandang Mountain (Zhejiang), Longyan (Fujian), Yimengshan (Shandong), Yanqing (Beijing), Huangshan (Anhui), and Lushan (Jiangxi)—have jointly launched the “My Earth Story” Photo Collection Contest.

Through the public’s perspective, the event aims to capture unforgettable travel experiences in geoparks and convey the concept of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

“My Earth Story — An Unforgettable Encounter with   Global Geoparks”

Capture geological wonders through images and tell travel stories through words.

04 Timeline

· Submission Period: From now untilMay 15, 2025

· Review Period:May 16 – May 25, 2025

· Results Announcement:May 30, 2025

· (Results will be published on official websites and social media accounts of GGN and the organizing geoparks.)

05 Eligibility

· Open to photography enthusiasts, geopark visitors, and advocates of nature conservation.

06 Submission Requirements

· (1) Submission Email:

· Email subject:Name + Title of Work + Contact Information

· (2) Content Requirements:

· Photos taken in any   Global Geopark worldwide, featuring natural landscapes, cultural activities, or travel stories. Each submission must include a description of about 200 words explaining the story or geological knowledge behind the image.

· (3) Rules:

· Deadline:May 15, 2025

· Real-name submission required

· Digital submissions only (no hard copies); image format JPG/JPEG, max size 20MB per image; text submitted via Word document or email body (Chinese or English accepted)

· Basic post-processing allowed, but alterations that distort reality are prohibited

· Entries must be original; plagiarism is strictly forbidden

· Submission grants organizers the right to use works for public-interest promotion without additional payment

· Maximum of 3 entries per participant (each photo/set counts as one entry); minors require guardian consent

· Winners must provide ID and bank details for prize distribution

· The organizing committee reserves final interpretation rights; submission implies acceptance of all rules

07 Awards

· First Prize (1 winner):RMB 1000 + e-certificate

· Second Prize (3 winners):RMB 500 each + e-certificate

· Third Prize (5 winners):RMB 100 each + e-certificate

· Excellence Awards (50 winners):Earth Day creative gift package (valued at RMB 80)

08 Evaluation Process

· Evaluation Criteria:

· Storytelling (40%): alignment between text and image, emotional and expressive quality

· Visual Quality (30%): composition, color, creativity

· Geological Value (30%): representation of geological features or ecological significance

· Process:

1. Preliminary Screening:Conducted by participating geoparks

2. Independent Scoring:Completed by expert judges

3. Final Scoring:Scores aggregated and ranked to determine winners

4. (Note: Awards and prizes will be distributed after the announcement of results.)
