In recent years, Miaoqian Town has leveraged its ecological resource endowment and taken the Jiuhua Polygonatum industry as a key driver for enriching local livelihoods and advancing rural revitalization. By revitalizing idle assets and integrating collective resources, the town has effectively addressed key constraints in industrial development and is striving to build a “two zones and one corridor” development framework for the Jiuhua Polygonatum industry.

Recently, the reporter visited Chizhou Original True Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Rural Revitalization Industrial Park of Xingxing Village, Miaoqian Town. The Jiuhua Polygonatum cultivation and processing base invested and constructed by the company was officially put into operation at the end of last year. The site features a spacious 4,000-square-meter open-air drying ground. Adjacent to it is a dust-free processing workshop, where visitors can clearly observe the complete production process of various Polygonatum products through a bright viewing corridor. The strictly controlled clean processing environment and efficient operational workflow provide the most direct assurance of product quality.
“The project covers an area of approximately 25 mu, with a total construction area of 12,500 square meters. In addition, a 1,000-square-meter e-commerce industrial center is currently under construction, which will include e-commerce incubation and centralized storage for agricultural specialty products. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate annual sales revenue of about RMB 50 million and tax revenue of around RMB 3 million,” said Zhu Yusheng, the project manager.

At the former site of Jiuhuashan Middle School in Miaoqian Town, the exterior renovation of the Jiuhua Polygonatum Teaching and Research Base has been largely completed, while interior decoration and plant construction are currently underway. “The project commenced earlier this year. After the completion of production facilities, we will install R&D equipment, laboratory testing devices, and automated filling production lines. It is expected to be put into operation by October,” said Zhang Zhongliang, the person in charge of the base. “At the same time, a 3,000-square-meter service area will be developed to support the operation and public access of the base.”
It is reported that the project is invested and constructed by Anhui Huisheng Shangyi Biotechnology Co., Ltd., with a planned total investment of RMB 310 million. Based on the original Jiuhuashan Middle School site, the project will be transformed into a comprehensive complex integrating classrooms and dormitories for the Jiuhua Polygonatum Business School, a cultivation and demonstration base, a cultural exhibition and education center, an e-commerce center, dust-free production workshops for Polygonatum products, as well as a historical museum of Jiuhuashan Middle School.

In 2025, Miaoqian Town processed over 3,960 tons of Jiuhua Polygonatum, producing more than 40 types of value-added products. The annual sales revenue of these products reached RMB 160 million, while the total output value of the entire industry chain amounted to RMB 195 million. The industry has driven the participation of more than 400 farming households and fostered the development of several market-recognized brands, including “Xiangyuelin,” “Yi Jiuhua,” “Ruziyan,” and “Essence of Heaven and Earth.”

In 2026, Miaoqian Town will continue to expand Jiuhua Polygonatum cultivation, with a planned increase of more than 1,100 mu, including 200 mu of high-standard cultivation bases. This will further stabilize and enhance the foundation of Polygonatum cultivation, providing strong support for the sustainable development of the town’s
