After the Symposium on Construction and Development of UNESCO Global Geoparks held at Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark in Shandong Province of China on April 26-28, 2021, Jiuhuashan UGGp establishes sister geoparks relationship with Yimengshan UGGp. These two geoparks will carry out cooperation and exchanges in the construction and management of geoparks, protection of geosites, distribution of geological knowledge and popularization, and network marketing, so as to better promote the development of geoparks.
Jiuhuashan and Yimengshan were inscribed as a UNESCO Global Geopark in the same year in 2019. The Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark is located on the uplift belt on the eastern coast of China, near Jinan City, the capital of Shandong Province. With an area of 1,804 km2.Yimengshan UGGp is composed of Mengshan subarea, Diamond subarea, Daigu subarea, Menglianggu subarea and Yunmeng lake subarea. There are 44 geosites distributed within the Geopark. The earliest primary diamond mine was located in the Geopark. The Geopark was the place where Daigu landform was named, with clustered, castle-shaped land formations protruding from the horizon.
