Showcase
of Science Popularization Volunteers of Jiuhuashan Global Geopark 2025
Different
Stories Intertwined with the Same Passion
Coming from all directions, we head to Jiuhuashan, just to meet the peaks.
This summer, Jiuhuashan will listen to our footsteps, perceive through our
eyes, and touch our passion, gently unfolding the mysteries of geology and the
poetry of nature in this valley.
Hou
Yanyan / Beijing Forestry University
Hello everyone! My nature name is Gardenia. I have loved flowers, plants, and
trees since childhood. I studied Landscape Architecture as an undergraduate and
have worked in planting design for 8 years. My current research focuses on
chestnut trees, so I have had quite a lot of interaction with the “plant
fellows” in nature. Now, I am full of longing for nature education and hope to
deeply engage in this field in the future. For this activity, I have two small
expectations: on the one hand, I hope to improve my nature observation ability
through training, gain a deeper understanding of Jiuhuashan, comprehend the
relationship between humans and nature, and strive to become a spokesperson for
nature; on the other hand, I also hope to access resources related to nature
education, such as site selection skills and information about partner
institutions, to pave the way for future work. Of course, what I look forward
to most is meeting like-minded partners, exchanging experiences, sharing
insights, and contributing to the grand cause of nature education and
conservation.

Chen
Gong / Nantong Environmental Monitoring Center, Jiangsu Province
Hello everyone! I am engaged in ecological remote sensing and biodiversity
monitoring, and I am also a naturalist who carries binoculars and specimen
boxes. In my work, I track ecological changes using satellite imagery; in my
life, I measure the magnificent landscapes of our country with my own feet. In
my spare time, I initiated the “Urban Nature Classroom” series of science
popularization activities, leading the public to observe birds, explore insects
at night, and gaze at the Milky Way, helping people rediscover the biodiversity
wonders around them.
It is my honor to participate in the Jiuhuashan Global Geopark science popularization volunteer program. I hope to explore the formation mechanisms of granite peak forests, learn the wisdom of coordinated ecosystem evolution, and uncover the contemporary science communication value of the “ecological Zen” of this famous Buddhist mountain. I am willing to transform my professional monitoring skills and outreach experience into vivid interpretations and, together with the team, build a three-dimensional science communication system of “geology + ecology + humanities.” I look forward to working with everyone to bring the scientific beauty of Jiuhuashan into more people’s hearts!
