On April 22—marking the 55th World Earth Day—Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark initiated a multi-platform awareness campaign under the theme "Cherish Our Planet: Harmonious Coexistence Between Humanity and Nature."Aligned with the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Week, these activities deepened public commitment to ecological conservation while advancing the vision of building a Beautiful China through respect for, adaptation to, and protection of natural systems.
At Shuguang Lvsheng Experimental School’s Nanhu Campus, over 5,000 students witnessed student representatives read the 55th Earth Day Proclamation. The Zigong Communist Youth League Committee designated the geopark as a "Municipal Young Pioneers Practice Education Base" through an official plaque presentation. Li Boxuan, Deputy Director of Zigong Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning, delivered remarks, followed by Grade 4 students’ collective recitation of "Protecting Mother Earth."Naturalists from the Equator Nature Conservation Center then conducted classroom workshops on planetary stewardship, distributing educational materials to reinforce conservation principles.
