On January 26, the "High-Quality Development Symposium on Study Tour Programs" convened in Bayanhot, drawing over 40 representatives from Alxa League’s study tourism regulatory departments, educational institutions (K-12 to university levels), study camps, cultural tourism enterprises, and media outlets. Wang Xiaodong, Party Leadership Group Member and Deputy Director of Alxa League Forestry and Grassland Bureau, delivered opening remarks, while Huang Tianbing, Director of Alxa Desert Geopark Administration, chaired the session.
Eight industry stakeholders—including the Geopark Administration, Alxa Cultural Tourism Investment Company, Tree Planting & Heart Cultivation Eco-Education Center, and Tengger Desert Noriertu Desert Post—presented thematic reports on market development, itinerary design, and educational frameworks for K-12 study tours. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions with domain experts on optimizing experiential learning methodologies.
The symposium consensus emphasized study tourism’s dual role as an emerging education-tourism hybrid with significant market potential, public benefit, and stakeholder engagement. It enhances youth scientific literacy, cultural exchange, self-awareness, and social responsibility while driving high-quality cultural tourism development. Attendees resolved to leverage Alxa’s unique geoheritage resources and the UNESCO Global Geopark’s prestigious brand through cross-sector collaboration. This synergy will create premium study tour products showcasing Alxa’s distinctive landscapes, enabling students to appreciate China’s natural wonders while fostering sound worldviews and values.
